Chris Wallace, born on October 12, 1947, is an American broadcast journalist with a career spanning over six decades. He is recognized for his tough and comprehensive interview style, which has drawn comparisons to his father, the renowned journalist Mike Wallace. Throughout his career, Wallace has served as a correspondent, moderator, or anchor for major networks including CBS, ABC, NBC, Fox News, and CNN. In 2018, he was named one of America's most trusted television news anchors and has received numerous awards, including three Emmy Awards, a Peabody Award, a George Polk Award, and the duPont-Columbia University Silver Baton. He was also honored with a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2025. Wallace has contributed the papers and videotapes from his extensive journalism career to the Dolph Briscoe Center for American History at the University of Texas in Austin. As a teenager, he gained early experience assisting Walter Cronkite during the 1964 Republican National Convention. After graduating from Harvard University, he worked as a national reporter for The Boston Globe before moving into broadcast news at NBC, where he held various roles including White House correspondent, anchor of NBC Nightly News on Sundays, and moderator of Meet the Press. Wallace later worked at ABC as an anchor for Primetime Thursday and Nightline. Notably, he hosted Fox News Sunday from 2003 to 2021, conducting high-profile interviews with figures such as Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and Vladimir Putin. He made history as the first Fox News journalist to moderate a United States presidential debate in 2016 and again in 2020. In 2021, Wallace transitioned to CNN, where he hosted the interview series Who's Talking to Chris Wallace and The Chris Wallace Show before leaving in 2024 after his contract expired.
