Christopher O'Dowd, born on 9 October 1979, is an Irish actor and comedian. He is known for his role as Roy Trenneman in the Channel 4 comedy The IT Crowd, which aired for four seasons from 2006 to 2010. O'Dowd has also starred in various films including Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel, Gulliver's Travels, Bridesmaids, Friends with Kids, The Sapphires, Cuban Fury, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, and The Cloverfield Paradox. His portrayal in The Sapphires earned him an AACTA Award. In television, he created and starred in the Sky 1 series Moone Boy, which ran from 2012 to 2015, earning him Irish Film and Television Award nominations for acting, writing, and directing. Since 2017, O'Dowd has appeared as Miles Daly in the Epix series Get Shorty and had a recurring role on the TV series Girls. His performance in the British comedy series State of the Union earned him a Primetime Emmy Award. Additionally, he made his Broadway debut in 2014 in the play adaptation of Of Mice and Men, earning a Tony Award nomination.
