Julia Scarlett Elizabeth Louis-Dreyfus, born January 13, 1961, is an American actress, comedian, and producer known for her roles in successful comedy series and films. She began her comedy career with the Practical Theatre Company and was a cast member on Saturday Night Live from 1982 to 1985. Her breakthrough role was as Elaine Benes on the NBC sitcom Seinfeld, which aired from 1990 to 1998 and is regarded as one of the most successful sitcoms in television history. Louis-Dreyfus received acclaim for her performances as Christine Campbell on The New Adventures of Old Christine and as Selina Meyer on Veep, which ran from 2012 to 2019.
