Carl Weathers: podcast appearances and interviews

Carl Weathers was an American actor, director, and former football player. Born in 1948, he played college football for the San Diego State Aztecs and later pursued a professional career as a linebacker. Weathers joined the Oakland Raiders of the National Football League after going undrafted in the 1970 NFL draft. He spent two seasons with the Raiders before playing three seasons with the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League. Transitioning from sports to entertainment, Weathers became known for his acting roles, notably portraying boxer Apollo Creed in the first four Rocky films from 1976 to 1985. His film credits include Colonel Al Dillon in Predator, Chubbs Peterson in Happy Gilmore, and he voiced Combat Carl in the Toy Story franchise. He starred in the 1988 film Action Jackson and appeared on television as Det. Beaudreaux in Street Justice from 1991 to 1993. Weathers also portrayed a fictionalized version of himself in the comedy series Arrested Development and voiced Omnitraxus Prime in Star vs. the Forces of Evil between 2017 and 2019. From 2019 to 2023, he featured as Greef Karga in the Star Wars series The Mandalorian, earning a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.
