C. S. Lewis: podcast appearances and interviews

Clive Staples Lewis was a British author, literary scholar, and Anglican lay theologian. Born on 29 November 1898, he held academic positions in English literature at Magdalen College, Oxford from 1925 to 1954 and at Magdalene College, Cambridge from 1954 to 1963. Lewis is best known for his series The Chronicles of Narnia, which has sold millions of copies and been adapted for stage, television, radio, and film. He also authored other notable works of fiction such as The Screwtape Letters and The Space Trilogy, along with non-fiction Christian apologetics including Mere Christianity, Miracles, and The Problem of Pain. A close friend of J. R. R. Tolkien, Lewis was part of the informal Oxford literary group known as the Inklings. His faith journey was significant to his writing; he was baptized in the Church of Ireland, wandered away from faith during adolescence, but returned to Anglicanism at age 32 influenced by Tolkien and peers. His Christian beliefs underpinned much of his work, and his radio broadcasts during World War II received wide recognition. Lewis authored over 30 books translated into more than 30 languages, and his philosophical works are frequently cited by Christian scholars from various denominations. In 1956, he married American writer Joy Davidman; her death from cancer occurred four years later. Clive Staples Lewis died on 22 November 1963 of kidney failure at age 64. In 2013, he was honored with a memorial in Poets' Corner at Westminster Abbey.
