C. S. Lewis: podcast appearances and interviews

Clive Staples Lewis was a British author, literary scholar, and Anglican lay theologian born on 29 November 1898. He held academic positions in English literature at Magdalen College, Oxford from 1925 to 1954 and at Magdalene College, Cambridge from 1954 until his death. Lewis is best known for his series The Chronicles of Narnia, which has sold millions of copies and been adapted into various media including stage, television, radio, and cinema. His other fiction works include The Screwtape Letters and The Space Trilogy. As a non-fiction Christian apologist, he authored influential books such as Mere Christianity, Miracles, and The Problem of Pain. Lewis’s close friendship with J. R. R. Tolkien, the author of The Lord of the Rings, was significant in his life; both men served on the Oxford faculty and participated in the informal literary group known as the Inklings. Initially baptized in the Church of Ireland, Lewis drifted from his faith during adolescence but returned to Anglicanism at the age of 32, inspired by Tolkien and others. His faith deeply influenced his writings, and his wartime radio broadcasts on Christianity gained notable recognition. Over his lifetime, he published more than 30 books translated into over 30 languages. Lewis married American writer Joy Davidman in 1956; she died of cancer four years later. He died on 22 November 1963 of kidney failure at the age of 64. In 2013, a memorial was placed in Poets' Corner in Westminster Abbey in his honor.
