Bruce MacLeish Dern is an American actor born on June 4, 1936. He has received multiple accolades throughout his career, including the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actor for his performance in Nebraska in 2013. This role also earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. Dern also won the Silver Bear for Best Actor for the film That Championship Season in 1982 and was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for Coming Home in 1978. His acting recognition extends to nominations for the BAFTA Award, the Golden Globe Award, and the Genie Award on multiple occasions.

A member of the Actors Studio, Dern began his career with small film roles in the 1960s, such as Marnie and Hush...Hush, Sweet Charlotte.
