Funmilayo Ayo Edebiri, born October 3, 1995, is an American actress, comedian, television writer, and director. She has gained prominence for her role as chef Sydney Adamu in the comedy-drama series The Bear, which began in 2022. Her performance in this series has earned her a Golden Globe Award, two Actor Awards, and a Primetime Emmy Award. Additionally, she received a nomination for a Directors Guild of America Award for directing the episode 'Napkins'. Edebiri's film work includes starring roles in comedy films such as Theater Camp and Bottoms, both released in 2023. Her career continued with roles in the psychological thrillers Opus and After the Hunt in 2025, as well as the political comedy Ella McCay. She has also contributed her voice to various animated projects, including Glory Grant in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023), April O'Neil in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023), and Envy in Inside Out 2 (2024).
