Natasha Bianca Lyonne Braunstein is an American actress, director, comedian, producer, writer, and tech executive born on April 4, 1979. She began her career as a child as an uncredited appearance in Heartburn and held a recurring role in Pee-wee's Playhouse, followed by a supporting role in Dennis the Menace. During her teen years, she appeared in independent films including Everyone Says I Love You, Slums of Beverly Hills, But I’m a Cheerleader, and Party Monster, as well as the American Pie film series. Lyonne gained critical acclaim and multiple award nominations for her portrayal of Nicky Nichols in the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black. She co-created, wrote, directed, and executive produced the Netflix series Russian Doll, which aired from 2019 to 2022, earning her further recognition. She has also starred in the Peacock series Poker Face and the Netflix film His Three Daughters. In addition to her entertainment career, Lyonne is a tech executive; in 2025 she publicly revealed herself as a co-founder of Asteria, an artificial intelligence film studio established with her partner Bryn Mooser in 2022. Asteria aims to produce animated feature films utilizing AI tools with responsibly sourced data. Her diverse body of work has led to her being named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time Magazine in 2023.
