Donald Frank Cheadle Jr. is an American actor born on November 29, 1964. He has garnered multiple accolades including two Golden Globe Awards, two Grammy Awards, and a Tony Award. Additionally, he has received nominations for an Academy Award, two BAFTA Awards, and eleven Primetime Emmy Awards, making him one of the few actors to have been nominated for an EGOT. Cheadle's career began with supporting roles in films such as Hamburger Hill, Colors, Devil in a Blue Dress, Rosewood, Boogie Nights, and Bulworth. He collaborated frequently with director Steven Soderbergh, appearing in Out of Sight, Traffic, The Ocean's Trilogy, and No Sudden Move. In 2004, he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Paul Rusesabagina in Hotel Rwanda. He was also a co-producer of Crash, which won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 2005. Cheadle joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe portraying James Rhodey Rhodes or War Machine, beginning with Iron Man 2. His television work includes nominations for Primetime Emmy Awards for his roles in House of Lies and Black Monday, as well as for other productions such as The Rat Pack, A Lesson Before Dying, Things Behind the Sun, ER, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. In 2016, he won a Grammy Award for the Miles Ahead soundtrack and in 2022 received another Grammy for his narration of the audiobook Carry On: Reflections for a New Generation from John Lewis. He also earned a Tony Award as a producer for the musical A Strange Loop.
