About Aron Ralston
Aron Lee Ralston is an American mountaineer, mechanical engineer, and motivational speaker. He is widely known for surviving a canyoneering accident in 2003, which he documented in his autobiography Between a Rock and a Hard Place. During a solo descent of Bluejohn Canyon in southeastern Utah, Ralston dislodged a boulder that pinned his right wrist to the canyon wall. After being trapped for five days, he made the decision to amputate his own forearm using a dull pocket knife in order to free himself. Following the amputation, he rappelled down a 65-foot drop, hiked seven miles, and was ultimately rescued. The story of his survival was later adapted into the film 127 Hours, with actor James Franco portraying him. Despite the ordeal, Ralston continued his mountaineering pursuits and achieved the distinction of being the first person to solo ascend all of Colorado's fourteeners in winter. His experiences and resilience have inspired many, making him a notable figure in adventure and motivational circles.
