Andrew Alexander Cole, born on 15 October 1971, is a former professional footballer from England who played as a striker. His career spanned from 1988 to 2008, during which he was notably associated with Manchester United. He transferred to Manchester United from Newcastle United for a British record fee and spent six years at the club, winning nine trophies including five Premier League titles and the Treble of the Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League in 1999. Cole also played for several other clubs in the top division of English football, including Arsenal, Blackburn Rovers, Fulham, Manchester City, Portsmouth, and Sunderland, as well as in The Football League for Bristol City, Birmingham City, Burnley, and Nottingham Forest. Throughout his career, he became the fifth-highest goalscorer in Premier League history with 187 goals. He held records for most goals scored in a 42-game season with 34, for the fastest to reach 50 goals with 65 matches, and for being the first player to top both the league's goalscoring and assist charts in the same season during 1993-94. Cole achieved the rare feat of winning every top-level team competition in English football, including the UEFA Champions League. Individually, he was awarded the PFA Young Player of the Year. Internationally, he was capped 15 times for England between 1995 and 2001, scoring once in a World Cup qualifying match against Albania.
