Ana Celia de Armas Caso is a Cuban-born actress who holds Cuban, Spanish, and American citizenship. She began her acting career in Cuba with a leading role in the romantic drama Una rosa de Francia in 2006. At 18 years old, she moved to Madrid, Spain, where she starred in the drama El Internado from 2007 to 2010. After relocating to Los Angeles, de Armas appeared in English-speaking roles including the psychological thriller Knock Knock in 2015 and the comedy-crime film War Dogs in 2016. She gained prominence for her role as the holographic AI Joi in the science fiction film Blade Runner 2049 in 2017 and as nurse Marta Cabrera in the mystery film Knives Out in 2019. Her performance in Knives Out earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical. De Armas starred as Paloma in the James Bond film No Time to Die in 2021 and portrayed Marilyn Monroe in the biographical drama Blonde in 2022, becoming the first Cuban actress to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress. She also leads the action thriller Ballerina, a spin-off in the John Wick franchise scheduled for 2025.
