Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, born October 13, 1989, is an American politician and activist serving as the U.S. representative for New York's 14th congressional district since 2019. A member of the Democratic Party and the Democratic Socialists of America, she was first elected to Congress in 2018 after defeating Democratic Caucus chair and ten-term incumbent Joe Crowley in the primary election.
