Alex Tyson Carey, born on 27 August 1991, is an Australian international cricketer who plays as a wicket-keeper-batter for the Australian national team. He has served as a vice-captain in Test, One Day International, and Twenty20 International formats and has also captained Australia in One Day International cricket. In domestic cricket, Carey represents South Australia and the Adelaide Strikers. Prior to his cricket career, he was an Australian rules footballer and served as the captain of the Greater Western Sydney Giants in 2010. When the team joined the Australian Football League in 2012, he was left out of the squad and subsequently returned to South Australia to pursue cricket. Carey debuted domestically in 2013 initially as a top-order batter but later transitioned to a wicket-keeper after facing initial setbacks and being dropped from the team. His cricketing career highlights include being part of the Australian teams that secured victories in the 2023 Cricket World Cup and the 2023 ICC World Test Championship final.
