Podcast Sponsorship
Podcast sponsorship is a paid advertising arrangement where a brand pays a podcast host to mention its products or services during episodes. It is distinct from guest appearances, which are typically not paid.
How it works
Podcast sponsorships are typically sold as pre-roll (before the episode), mid-roll (during the episode), and post-roll (at the end) placements. Pricing is usually based on CPM (cost per thousand listeners) and negotiated directly with the host or through a podcast ad network. PitchCentric detects sponsor mentions from RSS episode descriptions using pattern matching.
Example
A software company might sponsor a top technology podcast for $5,000 per episode CPM, reaching 100,000 listeners with a host-read ad that the host incorporates naturally into the episode flow.
