Podcast Advertising
Podcast advertising refers to commercial messages integrated into podcast episodes, typically read by the host or dynamically inserted. It is the primary revenue model for the podcast industry globally.
How it works
Podcast ads come in two forms: host-read ads, where the host delivers an organic-sounding sponsor message in their own voice; and dynamic ad insertion (DAI), where pre-produced audio ads are programmatically inserted. Host-read ads typically outperform DAI on conversion because of the trust audiences place in the host. CPM rates range from $15 to $50+ depending on the show's category, audience size, and advertiser demand.
Example
A host-read ad on a top personal finance podcast might generate 50 to 200 qualified signups for a financial product, at an effective CPA well below digital advertising alternatives, because the audience trusts the host's personal recommendation.
