Just Because You Can Handle It Does Not Mean You Should | Rise & Tell with Sheekha
There is a sentence that has probably created more stress in ambitious people's lives than almost anything else. It's fine, I can handle it. Another project? I'll handle it. More responsibility? I can handle it. And if you are a high achiever, you know exactly what I am talking about. In this solo episode of Rise & Tell with Sheekha, I am getting honest about something that took me a long time to see. Capacity is not the same thing as sustainability. Just because you can handle it does not mean it is yours to carry. And the moment you stop asking can I do this and start asking what is this going to cost me, everything begins to shift. In this episode: - The difference between capacity and sustainability and why high achievers confuse them constantly - Why competence creates a cycle that keeps adding more to your plate - How being needed starts to feel like identity and why that becomes a trap - Why you need to stop solving every problem just because you know how to - The three things I am actively changing to protect my energy while still building - Why unused capacity is not wasted capacity and where life actually happens Here is what nobody tells ambitious people. You can work 12 hour days, run on 5 hours of sleep, answer emails at dinner, solve everyone else's problems and keep adding more. Your body and brain will adapt. But just because you can survive something does not mean you have designed a good life. High achievers confuse those two things all the time. Can I handle it becomes the default instead of do I want my life to require this from me. Your ability to carry something does not automatically make it yours to carry. The next level of growth is not proving how much you can handle. It is becoming selective about what actually deserves your energy. If you are a high achiever trying to build a meaningful life without disappearing underneath everything you are capable of doing, this one is for you.
