Hinojosa was born in McAllen to Democratic politician Gilbert Hinojosa and grew up in the Rio Grande Valley. She’s a civil rights lawyer and has served five terms as the state representative for Texas's 49th House district . Over 600 people are estimated to have been killed and over 3,000 are missing, including 500foreigners, many of whom were Indians – including 31 from America - doing the pilgrimage to Mount Kailash. The Nepalese community in Houston met yesterday to see what they could do to help with rescue and rendering aid.
