William Morgan: podcast appearances and interviews

William Morgan was a resident of Batavia, New York, born in 1774. He is known for his disappearance in 1826, which is believed to have been a murder linked to his plans to publish a book exposing Freemasonry's secrets. After announcing his intention to reveal clandestine practices of the fraternal society, Morgan was arrested on charges perceived to be fabricated. He subsequently disappeared and is widely believed to have been kidnapped and killed by members of the Freemasons from western New York. Morgan's disappearance and presumed death triggered a significant public outcry and a broader social movement against Freemasonry. His case became a catalyst for political organization, inspiring Thurlow Weed and others to establish the Anti-Masonic Party. This party emerged in opposition to the Democratic Party under President Andrew Jackson and sought to challenge the influence of secret societies in American politics. The Anti-Masonic Party ran a presidential candidate in 1832 but became largely inactive by 1835.
