Whitney Elizabeth Houston (August 9, 1963 – February 11, 2012) was an American singer, actress, film producer, and record producer recognized as one of the most awarded performers of all time. Known for her vocal delivery, gospel singing style, and live performances, she became one of the best-selling music artists in history with sales exceeding 220 million records worldwide. Houston broke gender and racial barriers through her artistic achievements, Hollywood crossover, and music videos and was ranked second on Rolling Stone's list of the greatest singers of all time in 2023.
