Wes Streeting: podcast appearances and interviews

Wesley Paul William Streeting is a British politician affiliated with the Labour Party. He has been serving as the Member of Parliament for Ilford North since 2015. Streeting studied history at the University of Cambridge, where he was president of the Cambridge Students' Union from 2004 to 2005. He also served as president of the National Union of Students from 2008 to 2010. Prior to his parliamentary career, he worked for Progress, a Labour Party–related organization, and then in the public sector. In 2010, he was elected to the Redbridge London Borough Council for Labour and became deputy leader of the council in May 2014. He resigned from that position before standing down as a councillor in 2018. Streeting was re-elected to Parliament in both 2017 and 2019. Following Keir Starmer's election as Labour leader in 2020, Streeting joined the front bench as Shadow Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury. Later that year, he became Shadow Minister for Schools, and in May 2021, he was appointed Shadow Secretary of State for Child Poverty. In November 2021, he was promoted to Shadow Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, a position he held until July 2024. After Labour's victory in the 2024 general election, Streeting was appointed Secretary of State for Health and Social Care in the Starmer government. He resigned from this role in May 2026 amid internal party challenges and declined to run for party leadership afterward, endorsing Andy Burnham.
