Warren Edward Buffett, born on August 30, 1930, in Omaha, Nebraska, is an American investor and philanthropist. He is the chairman and former CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, a diversified holding company and one of the world's leading corporate conglomerates. Buffett is recognized as one of the best-known investors globally, with a reputation rooted in his adherence to value investing principles and frugality despite his considerable wealth. As of January 2026, his net worth was estimated at 148.9 billion US dollars, making him the ninth-richest person in the world. Buffett's interest in business and investing began in his youth, influenced by his father, U.S. congressman and businessman Howard Buffett. He attended the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln at the age of 20 before completing his education at Columbia Business School, where he developed his investment approach based on Benjamin Graham's value investing concept. He also studied at the New York Institute of Finance to enhance his understanding of economics.
