Adidja Azim Palmer, better known as Vybz Kartel, is a Jamaican dancehall artist recognized for his provocative lyrics and multifaceted public persona. Nicknamed Worl' Boss, Teacha, and King of Dancehall, he has achieved significant influence within the genre. As noted by Rolling Stone, Kartel attained folk-hero status in Jamaica, captivating audiences with his music while also provoking critics. His work has inspired Western artists such as Drake, who has cited Kartel as one of his major inspirations. On 31 July 2024, Kartel was released from prison after the Court of Appeal declined to authorize a retrial.
