Vincent Grant Gill, born on April 12, 1957, is an American singer, songwriter, and musician known for his contributions to country music and his proficiency as a guitarist. Gill began his musical career playing in local bluegrass bands in the 1970s and gained his first mainstream recognition as the lead singer of the soft rock band Pure Prairie League from 1978 to 1982. During this period, he sang lead on their hit single "Let Me Love You Tonight" and contributed to songwriting. Following his tenure with Pure Prairie League, Gill briefly played guitar in Rodney Crowell's backing band, the Cherry Bombs. His solo career in country music commenced in 1984 when he signed with RCA Records Nashville, which lasted until 1988, though with limited commercial success.
