Tyra Banks, born on December 4, 1973, is an American model, television personality, producer, writer, and actress. She began her modeling career at age 15 and was the first African American woman to appear on the covers of GQ and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, achieving considerable success and becoming one of the few Black models to attain supermodel status. Banks modeled as a Victoria's Secret Angel from 1997 to 2005 and was among the world's top-earning models in the early 2000s. She expanded her career into acting with television appearances in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and roles in films such as Higher Learning, Life-Size, and Coyote Ugly, along with minor roles in Love & Basketball, Halloween: Resurrection, and television series including Gossip Girl and Glee. In 2003, Banks created and hosted the reality series America's Next Top Model, which she executive produced for its first 22 seasons until 2015, and she continued to oversee the series during its revival. She co-created True Beauty and hosted The Tyra Banks Show, which won two Daytime Emmy awards. Banks also hosted America's Got Talent and Dancing with the Stars. She published a young adult novel titled Modelland that topped The New York Times Best Seller list. Through her production company, Bankable Productions, she produced television shows and films.
