Michael Lamar White II, known professionally as Trippie Redd, is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter born on June 18, 1999. Raised in Canton, Ohio, he has played a significant role in the development of emo rap and rage, a subgenre of trap music. Redd's music career began with the release of his debut mixtape, A Love Letter to You, in 2017, which entered the Billboard 200 chart. Its lead single, Love Scars, received double platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America. Following this, he released A Love Letter to You 2 and subsequent projects including his debut studio album, Life's a Trip, in 2018. Singles such as Dark Knight Dummo featuring Travis Scott, Taking a Walk, and Topanga from these releases charted on the Billboard Hot 100. His albums A Love Letter to You 3 and the 2019 release, !, both reached the top five of the Billboard 200. His fourth mixtape, A Love Letter to You 4, topped the chart. Redd's albums Pegasus and Trip at Knight, released in 2020 and 2021 respectively, peaked at number two on the Billboard 200. The single Miss the Rage with Playboi Carti from Trip at Knight achieved significant success by reaching number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. His fifth album Mansion Musik was released in 2023, reaching number three on the Billboard 200, and his sixth mixtape, A Love Letter to You 5, also released in 2023. His upcoming sixth album is scheduled for release in 2026. Redd has collaborated with various artists including Travis Barker on Neon Shark versus Pegasus and with MGK on an extended play titled Genre: Sadboy.
