Tracy Chapman: podcast appearances and interviews

Tracy Chapman, born March 30, 1964, is an American singer-songwriter. She signed with Elektra Records in 1987 and released her self-titled debut album the following year. The album achieved significant commercial success, receiving six Grammy Award nominations and winning three, including Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for her song 'Fast Car.' It was also certified six times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America and was later preserved in the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress. Her second album, Crossroads, came out in 1989 and earned her an additional Grammy nomination. She continued to release albums throughout the 1990s and 2000s, notably Matters of the Heart in 1992, New Beginning in 1995, which was certified five times platinum and featured the Grammy-winning song 'Give Me One Reason.' Her fifth album, Telling Stories, was released in 2000, followed by Let It Rain in 2002 and Where You Live in 2005. Her most recent studio album, Our Bright Future, was released in 2008. Chapman curated and released a Greatest Hits compilation in 2015. In 2023, she became the first Black artist to achieve a country number one with a solo composition and received the Country Music Association Award for Song of the Year for her song 'Fast Car,' when covered by Luke Combs.
