Tom O'Brien was an American actor known for his work in silent and sound films, particularly in serio-comic roles. Born on July 25, 1890, he was recognized for his burly appearance and often portrayed stocky Irish characters in supporting roles. Over a career spanning 22 years, O'Brien appeared in more than 80 films, including the comedy The Gentleman from America in 1923, where he played Johnny Day. The film depicts the humorous adventures of two American friends in Spain, with O'Brien sharing the screen with Hoot Gibson. Additionally, he appeared in the 1925 film The Big Parade as Corporal Bull O'Hara. O'Brien's contributions to early American cinema are marked by his distinctive character roles and comedic timing. He passed away on June 8, 1947, and was laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale.
