Thomas John Ellis, born on 17 November 1978, is a Welsh actor known for a range of television roles. He gained initial fame for portraying Gary Preston in the BBC One sitcom Miranda, which aired from 2009 to 2015. Ellis achieved broader recognition with his portrayal of Lucifer Morningstar in the urban fantasy series Lucifer, which was produced by Fox and later streamed on Netflix from 2016 to 2021. His performance in Lucifer also included participation in the Arrowverse crossover event Crisis on Infinite Earths in 2019. In addition to his notable television work, Ellis is affiliated with the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, where he is recognized as the 'birthday goth'.
