Thomas Matthew DeLonge is an American musician and songwriter best known as the co-founder, co-lead vocalist, and guitarist of the rock band Blink-182. He has been a prominent figure in the band across three separate periods of activity: from 1992 to 2005, from 2009 to 2015, and since 2022. In 2005, DeLonge founded Angels & Airwaves, another rock band where he serves as the lead vocalist and guitarist. The band was formed after his initial departure from Blink-182 and has released five albums, evolving into a multimedia art project. DeLonge is recognized for his distinctive nasal singing voice and his early involvement in punk rock songwriting. He first gained popularity in the local music scene with Blink-182's debut album Cheshire Cat in 1995, followed by the successful album Dude Ranch in 1997, which included the hit single Dammit. The band's popularity surged with their third album, Enema of the State, released in 1999, which sold over 15 million copies worldwide and achieved quadruple-platinum status in the United States. Subsequent albums include Take Off Your Pants and Jacket and Blink-182, the latter reflecting a change in tone and internal tensions that led to the band's breakup in 2005. During their hiatus, DeLonge pursued various ventures, including forming Angels & Airwaves, and became involved in projects outside music such as founding companies like Macbeth Footwear, Modlife, and To The Stars Academy Of Arts And Sciences, which focuses on fringe science. He has also directed and produced a sci-fi film and authored a children's book.
