Todd McFarlane: podcast appearances and interviews

Todd McFarlane, born on March 16, 1961, is a Canadian comic-book creator known for his work on The Amazing Spider-Man and as the creator, writer, and artist of the superhero horror-fantasy series Spawn. He gained prominence in the late 1980s and early 1990s through his high-selling work on Marvel Comics' Spider-Man franchise, where he illustrated the first full appearances of the character Venom. In 1992, McFarlane co-founded Image Comics and helped develop Spawn from a high-school portfolio character into a popular comic series; the debut issue sold 1.7 million copies, setting a record for an independent comic. His work in the 1990s contributed to a trend in creator-owned comic-book properties. Beyond his work as an artist, McFarlane has engaged in entrepreneurial ventures, including McFarlane Toys and Todd McFarlane Entertainment, a film and animation studio. He served as Art Director of 38 Studios, founded by Major League Baseball pitcher Curt Schilling. McFarlane was also a co-owner of the Edmonton Oilers, an NHL team, before selling his shares. Additionally, he is a collector of record-breaking baseballs. In the film industry, he produced the 1997 adaptation of Spawn, starring Michael Jai White.
