Thomas Maier: podcast appearances and interviews

Thomas Maier is an American author, journalist, and television producer. He has written several books, including Masters of Sex: The Life and Times of William Masters and Virginia Johnson, which served as the basis for the Primetime Emmy-winning Showtime drama Masters of Sex. Maier is also the author and producer of the six-part Paramount+ docuseries Mafia Spies, based on his book of the same name. His other notable works include When Lions Roar: The Churchills and the Kennedys, a history of these two influential families, and The Kennedys: America's Emerald Kings, which explores the impact of the Kennedy family's Irish-Catholic background. Additionally, he authored Dr. Spock: An American Life, which was recognized as a Notable Book of the Year by The New York Times in 1998 and was the subject of a BBC and A&E biography documentary. His 1994 book Newhouse: All the Glitter, Power and Glory of America's Richest Media Empire received the Frank Luther Mott Award from the National Honor Society in journalism and mass communication. Maier began his journalism career at the Chicago Sun-Times before joining Newsday in 1984. Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards, including the Society of Professional Journalists' top reporting prize twice, the National Headliner Award, the Worth Bingham Prize, and the New York Deadline Club award. In 2002, he won the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists' top prize for a series on immigrant workplace deaths. He also received the John M. Patterson Prize from Columbia University and the John McCloy Journalism Fellowship. Maier resides on Long Island, New York.
