Mark William Calaway, born on March 24, 1965, is an American retired professional wrestler best known by his ring name the Undertaker. He spent the majority of his in-ring career working for WWE, where he became one of the company's most enduring and recognizable characters. Calaway was signed to WWE for over 30 years, making him the longest-tenured wrestler in the company's history. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2022 and is currently a brand ambassador for WWE as well as a writer and executive producer for its sister promotion, Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide. Calaway began his wrestling career in 1987, working under various gimmicks for World Class Championship Wrestling and other affiliate promotions. In 1989, he signed with World Championship Wrestling for a brief period before joining the World Wrestling Federation in 1990, adopting the persona of the Undertaker. As the Deadman character, he was known for his funerary theming and undead, macabre persona, which earned him the Wrestling Observer Newsletter award for Best Gimmick for five consecutive years. He is renowned for his performances at WrestleMania, where he achieved a record 21 consecutive victories known as The Streak, and for his alliances and rivalries with Kane, with whom he formed the Brothers of Destruction. Throughout his career, he secured multiple championships including four WWF/E Championships, three World Heavyweight Championships, and the Royal Rumble in 2007.
