Edward Bridge Danson III, born on December 29, 1947, is an American actor recognized for his extensive work in television and film. He rose to fame playing the lead role of Sam Malone on the NBC sitcom Cheers, which aired from 1982 to 1993, earning him two Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. Danson made his film debut in 1978 with the crime drama The Onion Field and gained further recognition for his roles in comedies such as Three Men and a Baby and Three Men and a Little Lady. He also appeared in films including Body Heat, Creepshow, Dad, and Saving Private Ryan. His television career includes leading roles in the CBS sitcom Becker and roles in legal dramas such as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and CSI: Cyber.
