Susan Smith: podcast appearances and interviews

Susan Leigh Smith is a licensed professional affiliated with the Big Brother/Big Sister Program. She was born on September 26, 1971. Smith gained public attention due to her conviction for the murder of her two sons in 1994. She was found guilty of strangling her children, aged three and one, and then driving their car into John D. Long Lake in South Carolina. The case attracted international media coverage, partly because Smith initially claimed that a black man had kidnapped her sons during a carjacking. Expert witnesses testified that mental health issues affected her judgment at the time of the crimes. Smith was sentenced to life imprisonment with the possibility of parole after 30 years. She was first eligible for parole on November 20, 2024, but her request was denied. She is currently incarcerated at the Leath Correctional Institution near Greenwood, South Carolina.
