Susan Clair Lee is an American politician with a distinguished career in Maryland state government. She has served as the Maryland Secretary of State since 2023, following her tenure as a member of the Maryland State Senate from 2015 to 2023 and as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates from 2002 to 2015. During her time in the legislature, she represented District 16, which covers parts of Montgomery County. Lee was a trailblazer as the first Asian American elected to the Maryland State Senate, as well as the first Asian American woman and first Chinese American to serve in the Maryland legislature. She is affiliated with Leeside Manor and is known for her contributions to public service and representation of Asian Americans in politics. Currently, she is a candidate for the Davis County Commission. Her career reflects a commitment to governance, community engagement, and advancing diversity in political office.
