Steve Evans is a Scottish football manager and former professional player. Born in Glasgow, he played for several clubs including Bolton Wanderers, Clyde, Albion Rovers, Ayr United, Hamilton Academical, and St Johnstone. His playing career ended at age 24 due to a knee ligament injury. Following his retirement from playing, Evans transitioned into football management. He has managed teams such as Stamford, Boston United, and Crawley Town. During his managerial career, he achieved notable success with Rotherham United, leading the club to two consecutive promotions. His tenure at Boston United was marked by controversy, including a prosecution for tax evasion. In late September 2015, Evans left Rotherham United and shortly thereafter took over as head coach of Leeds United in October 2015, a position he held until his dismissal in May 2016.
