Stephen Greenblatt: podcast appearances and interviews

Stephen Jay Greenblatt is an American literary historian and author born on November 7, 1943. Since 2000, he has served as the John Cogan University Professor of the Humanities at Harvard University. Greenblatt is the general editor of The Norton Shakespeare, published in 2015, and is also the general editor and a contributor to The Norton Anthology of English Literature. He is recognized as one of the founders of new historicism, a set of critical practices he refers to as cultural poetics, a framework he introduced in the early 1980s that has significantly influenced the study of culture, Renaissance studies, and Shakespeare studies. Greenblatt has authored and edited numerous books and articles in these fields and is regarded as an expert. He co-founded the literary-cultural journal Representations, which frequently publishes articles by new historicists. Among his works, the biography Will in the World, about William Shakespeare, gained widespread popularity and was on The New York Times Best Seller list for nine weeks. Greenblatt received the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction in 2012 and the National Book Award for Nonfiction in 2011 for his book The Swerve: How the World Became Modern.
