About Stephen Fry
Sir Stephen John Fry, born on 24 August 1957, is an English actor, comedian, writer, and broadcaster. He began his career in television with appearances on the sketch comedy series Alfresco and the sitcom Blackadder. He gained wider recognition as part of the comedy duo Fry and Laurie, which produced the series A Bit of Fry & Laurie and the adaptation of the Jeeves and Wooster stories. Fry has also been involved in various television roles, including Kingdom, Bones, and It's a Sin. He was the original host of the comedy panel show QI, which earned him six British Academy Television Award nominations. His film credits include notable titles such as Chariots of Fire, A Fish Called Wanda, Gosford Park, V for Vendetta, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, and Love & Friendship. Fry portrayed characters in major film adaptations, including the Cheshire Cat in Alice in Wonderland and its sequel, as well as the Master of Lake-town in The Hobbit trilogy. He was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for his portrayal of Oscar Wilde in the film Wilde. Fry's theatre work includes adapting Me and My Girl for the West End, which enjoyed an eight-year run and earned Olivier Award nominations. He also played Malvolio in productions of Twelfth Night at Shakespeare's Globe and on Broadway, gaining Tony Award nominations. He has contributed to newspapers and magazines and provided voice acting for audiobooks.
