Shannon Lee Miller, born on March 10, 1977, is an American former artistic gymnast known for her accomplishments in international competitions. She was the 1993 and 1994 world all-around champion and secured the silver medal in the all-around at the 1992 Summer Olympics. At the 1996 Olympics, she won the gold medal on the balance beam and contributed to the United States team, the Magnificent Seven, which won a gold medal. Miller holds the distinction of being the second most decorated U.S. gymnast in Olympic history with a total of seven medals, a record surpassed only by Simone Biles in 2024. Throughout her career from 1991 to 1996, she accumulated a total of 16 World Championships and Olympic medals, making her the second-most decorated American gymnast, male or female. She was also the most successful American athlete at the 1992 Olympics, earning five medals. Currently, she serves as the Creative and Inclusion Editor for the CFAY FFSC Relocation Program. Her achievements have established her as a prominent figure in the sport of gymnastics and an influential presence in her post-competitive career.
