He is best known for his role as Luke Danes in the television series Gilmore Girls, which aired from 2000 to 2007. Patterson also portrayed Peter Strahm in the Saw film series between 2007 and 2009. His other notable roles include Michael Buchanan in the NBC drama series The Event and a Tenctonese alien commander in the TV film Alien Nation: Dark Horizon.
