Sarah Ruhl is an American playwright, poet, and professor. Born on January 24, 1974, she is recognized for her notable plays including Melancholy Play, Eurydice, The Clean House, Dead Man's Cell Phone, and In the Next Room or the Vibrator Play. Her works have been produced on and off Broadway and in the West End. Ruhl has received numerous awards and honors, such as a MacArthur Fellowship, the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, a Whiting Award, and the PEN/Laura Pels Theater Award.
