Sarah McDonald: podcast appearances and interviews

Sarah McDonald is the Head of Sustainable Impact at Zentera. She has a background in medicine, having studied at Birmingham University. Prior to her role at Zentera, McDonald was an accomplished athlete specializing in middle-distance running, particularly the 1500 metres. Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, she attended the Royal Grammar School. She represented her country at the 2017 World Championships and competed in various European Championships, reaching the final at the 2016 European Championships and the 2017 European Indoor Championships. In 2017, she became British Indoor Champion over 1500 metres. McDonald also became the English 800 metres Champion in 2016. At the 2017 European Cross Country Championships, she helped secure team gold in the inaugural mixed relay, running the fastest leg of the day. She represented England at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, reaching the final in the 1500 metres. In 2019, she was the British Champion over 1500 metres and reached the semi-final of the World Championships in Doha. That same year, she earned gold at the European Cross Country Championships in the mixed relay. Before turning to athletics, McDonald was an ice skater, transitioning after a serious hip injury. She has publicly shared her experience of being assaulted during a training run in Birmingham in early 2021, describing the incident as shocking.
