Samantha Crain: podcast appearances and interviews

Samantha Crain, born on August 15, 1986, is a musician, songwriter, producer, and singer affiliated with the Choctaw Nation. She is signed with Real Kind Records, an imprint of Communion Records. Crain has received multiple awards, including three Native American Music Awards in 2009 for Folk Album of the Year and Songwriter of the Year, as well as Single of the Year in 2022 for her song Bloomsday. She also won the Indigenous Music Award for Best Rock Album in 2019. Her music has been featured in various series and films such as 90210, Hung, Barking Water, The Dark Divide, Resident Alien, Reservation Dogs, Echo, and Unreserved: The Work of Louie Gong. In 2017 and 2018, Crain collaborated with the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem to compose and contribute music for the T. C. Cannon exhibit At the Edge of America. She self-released a collection of sonnets titled En Masse: A Collection of 30 Sonnets by Samantha Crain in July 2018. Her work as a composer extends into film, with scores created for the 2022 film Fancy Dance, starring Lily Gladstone and directed by Erica Tremblay. In 2024, she is scheduled to compose scores for the short documentary Winding Path and the feature-length documentary Drowned Land.
