Sally Jane Janet Gunnell is a British former track and field athlete specializing in the 400 metres hurdles. She was born on 29 July 1966 and has achieved significant success in her athletic career, including winning the gold medal at the 1992 Olympic Games. Between 1992 and 1994, Gunnell secured victories at every international event open to her, including the Olympic Games, World Championships, European Championships, Commonwealth Games, Goodwill Games, IAAF World Cup, and European Cup. Gunnell is notable for being the only female British athlete to have claimed all four major titles: Olympic, World, European, and Commonwealth. She was the first female 400 metres hurdler to win both Olympic and World titles and to break the world record.
