Sally Baker: podcast appearances and interviews

Sally Baker is a retired American children's television program personality known for her work as a host and creator. She began her career in television news as a weather forecaster before transitioning to children's programming. Baker hosted the live-action children's show Hobo Kelly, which first aired in Illinois and later in Los Angeles on KTTV in 1965 and subsequently on KCOP until 1972. Her on-air persona included wearing large novelty sunglasses, which she claimed allowed her to see her audience members, an element that engaged viewers and created a personal connection. Parents could also send in their children's names for personalized greetings on the show. In addition to Hobo Kelly, she created the children's show The Froozles, also known as The Land of Frooze, which aired on KHJ in Los Angeles from 1970 to 1978. The Froozles featured a character named Muffin, a pig-tailed, tomboy girl, along with puppet friends representing children of various ethnicities. The show included recurring skits with puppets telling jokes through doors in a wall, reminiscent of Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In.
