Robert Esmie: podcast appearances and interviews

Robert Esmie, born on July 5, 1972, in Kingston, Jamaica, is a retired Canadian sprinter known for his participation in the 4 × 100 meter relay team that won gold at the 1996 Summer Olympics. Raised in Sudbury, Ontario, Esmie was part of a prominent Canadian relay team in the mid-1990s that included Glenroy Gilbert, Bruny Surin, and Donovan Bailey. This team was ranked number one in the world from 1994 to 1999. Esmie achieved notable success in international competitions, including winning bronze medals at the 1993 World Championships and the 1995 World Indoor Championships, as well as being part of the gold medal-winning team at the 1995 World Championships. At the 1994 Commonwealth Games, he competed in the 100 meters, and he placed seventh in the 100 meters semi-final at the Olympics. During the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, the Canadian 4 × 100 meters relay team, despite not being favored, defeated the United States team to secure the gold medal in a national record time. Esmie was initially not slated to run in the relay but was added to the team after a last-minute injury replacement. His Olympic gold medal was later stolen. He was part of the Canadian relay team again that secured gold at the 1997 World Championships. In recognition of his achievements, Esmie was inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in 2008 as a member of the 1996 Olympic relay team. Currently, he is involved in athletic training through his program called AirBlastoff Sports.
