Richard Lewis Springthorpe, known professionally as Rick Springfield, is an Australian-American musician and actor born on August 23, 1949. He was a member of the pop rock group Zoot from 1969 to 1971 and launched his solo music career with the single Speak to the Sky, which reached the top 10 in Australia in 1972. After moving to the United States, Springfield achieved commercial success with his hit song Jessie's Girl in 1981, which topped charts in both Australia and the US and earned him a Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance. He continued producing hits with songs such as I've Done Everything for You, Don't Talk to Strangers, Affair of the Heart, and Love Somebody, all reaching the top 10 in the US. His notable albums include Working Class Dog and Success Hasn't Spoiled Me Yet, both charting in the US. Beyond his music career, Springfield has acted in film and television, notably starring in the film Hard to Hold and the series High Tide. He has appeared in supporting roles in movies like Ricki and the Flash and True Detective and has had recurring roles on television, including portraying Noah Drake on General Hospital in multiple periods, with his return in 2013 marking the show’s 50th anniversary. Springfield also played a version of himself in Californication and has made appearances on Supernatural, Hot in Cleveland, and American Horror Story. In 2010, he published his autobiography titled Late, Late at Night: A Memoir.
