Richard Dale Jenkins, born on May 4, 1947, is an American actor known for his extensive work in film and television since the 1980s. He began his acting career in theater with the Trinity Repertory Company before making his film debut in 1974. Jenkins has appeared in numerous films including The Witches of Eastwick, Cheaper By The Dozen, Burn After Reading, Step Brothers, Jack Reacher, and Nightmare Alley. His television credits include the role of Nathaniel Fisher on the HBO series Six Feet Under from 2001 to 2005. Jenkins received multiple award nominations for his performances, including an Academy Award, Spirit Award, and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations for the film The Visitor. He won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie for his role in Olive Kitteridge in 2014. His portrayal in the fantasy drama The Shape of Water earned him nominations for the Academy Award, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Supporting Actor. More recently, Jenkins received Golden Globe and Emmy nominations for his supporting role and production work in the Netflix miniseries Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story in 2022.
